Capturing the Magic: How PNW Marketing Helped Skagit Tourism Showcase the Spirit of Skagit Valley Through Video

At Skagit Marketing—now proudly rebranded as Pacific Northwest Marketing—we’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire connection. So when Skagit Tourism approached us to create a video series that would not only promote tourism but also reflect the soul of Skagit Valley, we knew this had to be something special.

This wasn’t just about attracting visitors—it was about sharing what locals already know: Skagit Valley is magic.

A New Video Vision for Skagit Tourism

Our goal was to produce high-quality, visually stunning video content that could live on Skagit Tourism’s website, social media, and broader campaigns. But more than anything, we wanted to capture authentic voices and the natural beauty that defines the region—from the North Cascades, to The Valley, and to the Salish Sea.

Magic Skagit Video

We designed a video content program centered around people who live and work in Skagit Valley.  On a one-day shoot we highlighted three of Skagit outdoor experiences: mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking. Each shoot was designed not just to capture the activity, but the people behind the adventures—those who live, breathe, and build their lives in Skagit Valley.

The Day of Adventure: From Mountain Peaks to the Salish Sea
8:30 AM – Little Mountain | Mountain Biking with Skagit Cycle Center

Our crew kicked off the day at the base of Little Mountain, meeting up with Adam Ruiz and Jeremy from Skagit Cycle Center. With drone and on-the-ground footage, we captured the exhilarating energy of mountain biking in Skagit Valley’s lush terrain.

Through interviews, Adam shared his personal connection to the region:

“Skagit Valley isn’t just a place to ride—it’s a place that rides with you. The trails here aren’t crowded, the views are unbelievable, and there’s a real community around it.”

His passion set the tone for the day: local expertise, deep roots, and a shared love for this land.

12:00 PM – Washington Park | Hiking with Skagit Guided Adventures

By noon, we visited with Stephanie, owner of Skagit Guided Adventures.

3:00 PM – Skyline Marina | Kayaking with Anacortes Kayak Tours

Our final stop was with Megan from Anacortes Kayak Tours at the scenic Skyline Marina. The afternoon light shimmered on the water as we filmed kayakers heading out into the Sound, guided by local experts who know every inch of the coast.

Megan shared:

“Visitors always tell us the same thing: ‘I had no idea this kind of wilderness still existed so close to home.’ We see seals, porpoises, bald eagles—it’s incredible. And it’s right here in Skagit.”

Why It Worked: Authenticity, Beauty, and the “Magic Skagit”

What made this project so successful? We didn’t script it. We let the people and places of Skagit Valley speak for themselves. Every video asked the same final question:

“What does ‘Magic Skagit’ mean to you?”

And every answer was different—but each one was rooted in love, respect, and wonder for this region.

Through high-quality videography, drone footage, and thoughtful interviews, the series gave Skagit Tourism a powerful visual tool to connect with potential visitors on a personal, emotional level.

A Lasting Impact

This video program is more than a campaign—it’s a celebration. It’s helping Skagit Tourism attract visitors who care about sustainability, outdoor adventure, and authentic local experiences.

At Pacific Northwest Marketing, we’re honored to play a role in telling Skagit Valley’s story.
