I started selling and finding content (acquisition editorial work) in 1988 in the educational college textbook publishing industry. In the early 1990’s, I presented and sold one of the first companion websites to accompany a textbook. The more robust the content – the better the companion website – the more textbooks sold. Companion websites led to Blackboard. Same story with Blackboard – the more robust the content – the more textbooks sold. Content Marketing 101 back in 1993.
Starting in 2005 Skagit Marketing began helping businesses and organizations adapt their “hard copy” content for websites while also creating new compelling content and integrating the content into websites, blogs, and social media sites such as YouTube. Content marketing has evolved over the past 4 years to include more elaborate storytelling using rich media.
