“How do I get a free Facebook window sticker for my storefront?”  This is a frequent question I hear from small business clients.  This morning I had an email in my inbox with the header:  Julie, get a free Facebook window sticker.  Hey – finally they made it easy.  I’m going to click on this and get my free stickers!

I clicked “request your sticker” and…..NOT.  The click takes me to a page that says – Thank you for your interest.
The promotion is now complete and we are not taking additional requests at this time. Please visit our Facebook for business website to learn more about other business resources.  Bait and switch possibly?  Could they really run out of stickers from the hour I received the email until I clicked on request your sticker?  What business resources are they talking about?

Drum roll….as I click Learn More…..NO!  Seriously???  Find new customers.  Boost Sales.  Facebook can help you meet your business goals.  Create an Ad.

Come on you guys – really?  Not even a rain check on the sticker?  A note to the marketing folks over at Facebook trying to sell more ads – small business owners have a lot of roles to play and a lot on their mind.  Don’t make it difficult for them to just get their dang free Facebook window sticker.  Find new customers – Boost Sales – Meet Your Business Goals.  This is all good, but just give them their free stickers!

Kits will be shipped within 2 weeks...Or not at all.  And this isn’t the first time they have pulled this campaign.  I checked out some forums, and this is a repeated story.  They know they will run out in less than an hour.  Who knows – maybe minutes?  Kind of like when I tried to buy tickets to the Seahawks vs 49ers on Ticketmaster.

Facebook marketing has decided this is acceptable.  They will reap the awards of more small business owners clicking learn more and then buying ads.  I think that is a bit greedy.  For a couple of bucks head to your local small business print shop for your Facebook window stickers.
