Only Love: Helping St. Vincent de Paul in The Dalles Build a Digital Home for Their Ministry

At Skagit Marketing—soon to be Pacific Northwest Marketing—we’ve had the privilege of working with many purpose-driven organizations. Few have moved us quite like St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) in The Dalles, Oregon, whose mission is simple but powerful: to serve with only love.

SVDP didn’t have a website. Despite doing essential, life-changing work daily, their visibility online didn’t reflect the depth and impact of their ministry. That’s where we came in.

A Website Rooted in Mission

SVDP’s mission began in the streets of 1840s Paris, when Frédéric Ozanam and a group of young students—moved by the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul—committed themselves to serving the poor by meeting them where they live. Today, that mission lives on in The Dalles through tireless service to the homeless, the displaced, and the vulnerable.

We worked closely with their leadership team to build a brand new website from the ground up—one that would:

  • Clearly communicate who they are and what they do
  • Highlight the many ways to get involved
  • Make it easier to donate, volunteer, and connect
  • Reflect their core value of dignity and love above all else

The result is a beautiful, easy-to-navigate digital home that encapsulates their spirit while making their services and needs more accessible to the community.

Showcasing the Work—and the Heart—Behind It

The new site tells the story of a ministry that provides more than meals—it provides hope.

Every week, SVDP and their partners—Bread and Blessings, Community Meal, and St. Vinnies—serve 12 meals a week, while also offering showers, laundry, gas, propane, prescription assistance, clothing, linens, and emergency support for those facing crisis.

Through collaborative partnerships with Center for Living, One Community Health, Haven from Domestic Violence, Bridges to Change, Mid-Columbia Housing Authority, and many others, they act as a compassionate bridge to critical services.

Our job was to make sure this incredible work was easy to find, understand, and support. We built sections of the site to spotlight:

  • Volunteer opportunities
  • Donation options
  • Seasonal outreach campaigns like back-to-school drives and Christmas gifts for the homeless
  • The food pantry experience and other critical services

Empowering the Team for Long-Term Impact

We didn’t stop at design and development. We also provided training and tools so the SVDP team could update their site content, share stories through a blog, and stay active in the digital space.

Now, they have not just a website, but a platform that works for them—helping attract support, tell their story, and expand their impact.

A Mission We’re Proud to Support

From the very beginning, it was clear that SVDP wasn’t looking for bells and whistles—they were looking for a way to connect more deeply with the community and make their services known to those who need them most.

Their guiding principle—“we bring neither bureaucracy, welfare, nor pity, only love”—inspired every aspect of this project. And we’re honored to have played a role in supporting that mission.

At Pacific Northwest Marketing, we believe that when you amplify good work, great things happen. If you’re ready to grow your nonprofit’s impact, let’s build something meaningful together.
